Power Outage – Sep. 8, 2023

Please visit our Facebook Page at https://www.facebook.com/BeauregardElectric for any additional updates....

🔴 8:00 pm Update: BECi continues to restore power in its service territory. At this time, we still have 124 separate outages affecting 2,704 meters. Crews will work throughout the night; however, we anticipate there will be meters that will not receive power until tomorrow. Please know that it is frustrating for those still out, but know that our crews are working as quickly and safely as possible.
An important note that may help explain how power restoration works: Crews work on substations first, circuits second and individual taps (or lines) third. We are in the third stage of our process which means that there may be only five meters....or ten....or 20.....etc. in your area out. Each meter is important to us! And we are working diligently to remove debris off lines to restore your power. We will not forget ANY of you. But this process does take time. We appreciate your support of our line crews and remaining staff answering phones and making sure everyone works safely.

🔴 5:00 pm Update: BECi has energized all substations and restored 17 percent. Crews are working in all seven parishes and we still have more than 5,000 out. We do not have an estimated time for each location.
One important note when checking our outage map: If you click on the graph at the bottom left, a separate screen will appear that pulls up the total number of outages. If there are 149 separate outages, each one will take time to restore. As an example, one outage will take between 30 minutes to two hours depending on the severity. Once a crew completes one, they move on to the next……and so on. These outages take time since the majority of them have trees on them and lines down. Please refer to the point below. We appreciate your patience.

A severe thunderstorm has moved through our service area and has interrupted power to 30 percent of our services. We have five substations out due to our power supplier and more than five of our circuits out as a result of the weather. We have reports of poles down and lines down at 1:30 pm.
Please remember the following:
1. For the safety of our linemen, we will assess damage when the wind subsides and it is safe to begin the restoration process.
2. Do NOT go near any downed power line - ALWAYS TREAT EACH LINE AS ENERGIZED.
3. Be patient in reporting your outage as we are experiencing a HIGH volume of calls.
4. This restoration process will be fluid and will change as the day progresses. We are unable to report ANY estimated time of restoration at this point.
5. Please refrain from reporting your outage via social media as this site is not manned 24-hours a day.
6. If you require electricity for medical equipment, please consider seeking an alternate location for the rest of the evening.
7. We appreciate your patience as we work together for you to have power restored as quickly and safely as possible.
Thank you!
