BECi Awards $22,500 in Scholarships to Local Students

On Saturday, March 26, Beauregard Electric Cooperative, Inc. continued its 29-year tradition of awarding scholarships to local students. Since 1993, BECi has awards over $275,000 in scholarships to over 200 local students. These funds were made possible through legislative changes in 1993 to allow unclaimed funding to stay in local communities assisting families to further their education.

 

For the 2022-2023 academic year, BECi will award a total of $22,500 in scholarships. These scholarships are to be awarded in $1,500 increments to 15 local students.

 

The following students were chosen at the co-op’s annual meeting:

Emily Dobbins, graduating senior from Faith Training Christian Academy

Jada Thompson, graduating senior from South Beauregard High School

Luke Granger, graduating senior from DeRidder High School

Lianna Montelibano, graduating senior from Sam Houston High School

Karlee Vige, graduating senior from DeQuincy High School

Grace Valentine, graduating senior from DeQuincy High School

Ethan Harrell, full-time college student at McNeese State University

Madison Edwards, graduating senior from East Beauregard High School
