As of 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 13, Beauregard Electric lost power to 70 percent or approximately 27,000 of its membership. The locally-owned cooperative serves more than 38,000 members on 5,600 miles of line in portions of Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Vernon, Rapides, Jeff Davis, and Evangeline Parishes.
Crews will begin to assess damage today as the storm exits the service area. “We are asking for your patience as we begin the restoration process. BECi will provide more details on anticipated length of outages once damage assessment is completed.
“BECi is very committed to safety,” said Kay Fox, VP of Marketing and Member Services. “Please avoid all downed power lines and be aware of unsafe structures, damaged trees and electrical equipment. We ask that you stay off the highways and roads as much as possible.”
BECi anticipates an overloaded phone system as members call to report outages. When calling Beauregard Electric Cooperative over the next several days chances are that you will receive a busy signal or no answer. BECi employees are at the DeRidder office implementing its emergency response procedures.
