As of 9:00 p.m. Monday, September 1, Beauregard Electric reports outages in five of its seven parishes served due to Gustav’s encroachment into the service area. Nearly 40 percent of its 38,000 members have lost power.
Here is a breakdown of outage numbers:
- Allen Parish 2,700
- Beauregard Parish 2,900
- Calcasieu Parish 8,500
- Rapides Parish 750
- Vernon Parish 200
- Total Outages 15,050
As we continue to experience this devastation, we ask for your patience. Crews will be dispatched into the service area as soon as it is deemed safe, which will be Tuesday morning. At that time, crews will assess the damage to begin the restoration process. BECi has recruited local contract crews and crews from Arkansas to assist with the restoration process.
“Our main concern is the safety of the public and our employees and the protection of property,” said Kay Fox. “Please avoid all downed power lines and be aware of unsafe structures, damaged trees and electrical equipment.”
