DeRidder—As of 11 a.m. Thursday, May 15, Beauregard Electric has restored power to all but approximately 500 of its 38,000 members. Power was interrupted by an intense thunderstorm that moved through Southwest Louisiana early Thursday morning. The majority of the outages have occurred in the Southern portion of the BECi service territory. At the height of the storm, BECi reported approximately 9,000 members experienced a power outage.
BECi crews and contract crews will continue to work to restore power to the 500 members. “Our main concern is the safety of the public and our employees,” said Kay Fox, Vice President of Marketing and Member Services. “Please avoid all downed power lines and assume that lines are energized. If you see any damaged lines, we ask that you stay away from the area and call our office immediately.”
