DeRidder, LA -- At the November Beauregard Electric Cooperative, Inc. (BECi) board meeting, two directors were recognized for achieving board certifications. Dale Peterson from Rosepine and Alan Dane Slaydon of Sugartown received the Credentialed Cooperative Director certificate for their commitment to education from the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA).
The NRECA Credentialed Cooperative Director, or CCD, program requires attendance and demonstrated understanding of the basic competencies contained in five core courses:
Today's electric utility environment imposes new demands on electric cooperative directors, particularly increased knowledge of changes in the electric utility business, new governance skills and a working knowledge of the cooperative principles. Beauregard Electric Cooperative, Inc. has a commitment to work through the Association of Louisiana Cooperatives (ALEC) to sharpen this body of knowledge for the benefit of their electric cooperative members.
Dale Peterson is a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, has coached Dixie Youth Baseball, USSSA Baseball and Optimist Basketball and is a supporter of DeRidder and Rosepine High School Baseball. Peterson has owned and operated the Rosepine Family Pharmacy for more than 20 years and has served on the BECi Board for three years. He is a member of the Fellow of the American Society of Consulting Pharmacist and the Retrospective and Prospective Drug Utilization Review Board for the state of Louisiana and has been the chief pharmacy consultant for nine nursing homes for American Pharmaceutical Services.
Alan Dane Slaydon, director of cardiopulmonary at Beauregard Memorial Hospital, is a member of Smyrna Baptist Church and the American Association of Respiratory Care and is an instructor for the American Heart Association.
