| DeRidder, LA -- The results of the Beauregard Electric Cooperative, Inc. director elections were announced Saturday during the annual meeting at co-op headquarters in DeRidder.
Dale Peterson of Rosepine, District Two Incumbent Director, was elected without opposition. Peterson is a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, has coached Dixie Youth Baseball, USSSA Baseball and Optimist Basketball and is a supporter of DeRidder and Rosepine High School Baseball. Peterson has owned and operated the Rosepine Family Pharmacy for more than 20 years and has served on the BECi Board for three years. He is a member of the Fellow of the American Society of Consulting Pharmacist and the Retrospective and Prospective Drug Utilization Review Board for the state of Louisiana and has been the chief pharmacy consultant for nine nursing homes for American Pharmaceutical Services.
Incumbent director, Alan Dane Slaydon of Sugartown, was re-elected to represent District Four for a second term. Slaydon, receiving 453 votes, defeated fellow candidates Henry Kulaga and Buck Myers who received 183 and 219 votes respectively. Slaydon, director of cardiopulmonary at Beauregard Memorial Hospital, is a member of Smyrna Baptist Church and the American Association of Respiratory Care and is an instructor for the American Heart Association.
District Seven incumbent director, Doug Sonnier of Oberlin, was re-elected to represent his district for another term. Sonnier, receiving 913 votes, defeated fellow candidate Joe Perkins who received 217 votes. Sonnier, a farmer by trade, is a member of Oaklin Springs Baptist Church, Allen Parish Police Jury, Allen Parish Fair Board and serves on the board of directors for the Allen Action Agency. Sonnier has served on the board since 2000.
The three directors officially began serving a three-year term at Saturday’s annual meeting.
