Crews from Beauregard Electric travel to Mississippi to restore power
DeRidder, LA – Beauregard Electric Cooperative, Inc. (BECi) dispatched crews to assist electric cooperatives in restoring power to residents along the coast of Mississippi early Thursday morning following Hurricane Ivan.
BECi sent 16 workers in service vehicles with specialized equipment to meet 60 more state utility workers from nine rural electric cooperatives at the Association of Louisiana Electric Cooperative (ALEC) office in Baton Rouge. From there, crews will make their first stop at Coast Electric Power Association, headquartered in Bay St. Louis, MS, to restore power to the residents in that area. Once electricity has been restored, crews will continue to Alabama cooperatives to assist as needed.
Field superintendents Doug Watson and Ricky Deggs will supervise BECi’s recovery efforts.
