BECi Directors Elected

DeRidder -- The results of the Beauregard Electric Cooperative, Inc. director elections were announced Saturday during the annual meeting at co-op headquarters in DeRidder.

Robert Owen Foshee of Rosepine won the co-op’s District 2 seat having run unopposed for the position. Foshee, a thirteen-year board member, is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints, president of the Rosepine Cemetery Association and a former member of the DeRidder Rotary Club. Foshee is a sales representative for Angelle Concrete, Inc.

Alan Dane Slaydon of Pitkin defeated incumbent C.R. “Chester” Cooley for the post in a 458 to 407 vote in District 4. Slaydon is the director of the cardiopulmonary department at Beauregard Memorial Hospital in DeRidder. He serves as president of Smyrna-Cole Cemetery Association and is a board member of the Cole Central Fire Department and Smyrna Baptist Church.

In District 7, incumbent director Douglas Sonnier defeated fellow candidate Marietta “Mary” Jemison in an 899 to a 305 vote. Sonnier, a farmer from Oberlin, is a member of Oaklin Springs Baptist Church. He has served on the board for three years.

The three directors officially began serving their three-year term at Saturday’s annual meeting.
