Beauregard Electric Cooperative, Inc. Works to Open New Ragley Substation
Interruptions to Service Possible

DeRidder, LA -- Beauregard Electric enters its final stage that sets in motion the transfer of power to the new Ragley Substation. Located 1/4 mile north of the Ragley overpass, the substation was re-located to accommodate the four-lane construction of US Hwy. 171. Improvements have been made to the new substation, which will increase capacity load and reliability to its surrounding customers.

Because of the substation being implemented, BECi customers may experience interruption to their service. Affected customers are those in Ragley, Longville and south of DeRidder. The areas are comprised of the following:

  • DeRidder, Mennonite Road area south on Hwy. 171
  • Longville at Hwy. 171, Hwy. 110 west and Longville Gravel east
  • Ragley, Hwy. 190 east to Texas Eastern area and Hwy. 12 south to S.A. Cooley Road; and Hwy. 171 south to Camp Edgewood Road and east to the Topsy area

The switching process is scheduled for Thursday, August 1, 2002 and will continue through Thursday of the next week. It is possible that customers may experience brief power interruptions throughout this period.
