BECi WINS STATEWIDE SAFETY TROPHY
Co-op employees work 1,274,592 safe employee-hours
Beauregard Electric Co-op Board Member Teddy Welch and director J.
R. "Ronnie" Hickman joined BECi Safety Coordinator Eddie W.
Ware in accepting the Louisiana Statewide Cooperative Safety Trophy
on behalf of the management and employees of BECi at an award's ceremony
held July 22nd in Baton Rouge.
The trophy, as well as a safety recognition plaque, was presented
by Buck Theriot, Director of Loss Control with the Association of Louisiana
Electric Cooperatives, Inc. (ALEC), to BECi in recognition of the 122
Co-op employees' outstanding safety record over the past year. Safety
awards are presented as part of ALEC's annual statewide membership meeting
at which BECi director J. R. Hickman was elected president of the statewide
association.
This is the second consecutive time BECi has won the trophy, which
is displayed at the office of the winning Co-op for one year in recognition
of superior employee effort toward the safe performance of their respective
duties. The trophy also recognizes the support of the Co-op's board
of directors, management and supervisors to the safe operation of the
utility.
BECi General Manager Mike Pigott congratulated and praised all of
the BECi employees on their professional performance and dedication
in earning the statewide trophy.
"I am proud of all of our employees for earning this award and
for the compliment it pays to our Co-op and its directors and members,"
Pigott added.
BECi employees worked a total of 1,274,592 hours without a lost-time
accident since August 1997.
BECi's employees serve over 35,000 members in Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu,
Evangeline, Jeff Davis and Vernon parishes along 5,187 miles of power
line with offices at DeRidder, Moss Bluff and New Llano.
